The Rest of the Story

June 17, 1968
After a somewhat uneventful pregnancy Dave and I are anticipating the birth of our second baby. This baby is due on July 5th...but because of my unprecedented weight gain the Dr. decides he has miscalculated and instructs me to take Castor Oil on this day. He says, "If you are ready...you will deliver...if not..you will get a good cleaning out!" At 1 p.m. I take the Castor Oil...the Doc says I should deliver around 7 pm. Dave is away a summer school...and now for the rest of the story...check back as I have to go out dancing with my honey right now and can't write any more until later!

Whatsoever state I am in...

Philippians 4:11 "I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."
I KNOW that doesn't refer to one of the United States...but for today..I am thinking about moving and moving trucks and how contentment is based in knowing who I am in Jesus!

This is our moving truck that brought us from Florida to Texas last March. I wanted to get a picture of Sam and Lisa's truck that came from Montana to Texas yesterday but was too busy babysitting with Henry, Jonah, Abby, Brian, and Ana and then by the time I got there the truck had come and gone-in just 4 hours! Our kids (David, Beth, ASHLEY AND JONATHAN, Jon, Amy, Brian and their 5 oldest and Sam and Lisa and Dave) and Teen Mania interns got the job done quickly! The only downer to the day was that in the 100 degree heat- the air conditioner at the new house did not work. I think everyone sweat off about 100 lbs. total! They finally got it working about 6 p.m and it was 95 in the house at that time. Sam and family and Dave and I took a break about 6 and went to Cracker Barrel for diner. When Sam and Lisa got home it was down to 85 and cooled off nicely in time for them to sleep. PTL!
Again, we are SO blessed to now have all our children and grandchildren within 30 miles of us. I was reminded yesterday in Psalm 128
"How happy are those who fear the Lord- all who follow his way!...How happy you will be! How rich your life!...May you live to enjoy your grandchildren.:
It is our goal to bring glory to God in all we do. He has so totally blessed us. We give HIM all the praise for His mercy and kindness to us.

My love- Am I a Helpmeet?

Since I wanted this site to be about being a Helpmeet I guess it is high time I write about my husband- the one I have been called to be a helpmeet to! With all the moving- kids moving in with us- helping out with grandkids- etc. it seems that he has taken a back seat more than I would like in the past weeks. I am stopping to ask myself some questions. In doing this I ran across some notes from a seminar I attended a few years back that changed my life. It describes what my love for my husband should look like. Is this how your love for your mate looks???
"My love for my huband is to be characterized by a deep fondness and fervent affection that is only growing and incresing with each passing day. We can so esily get caught up with all of the duties and responsiblilites of marriage that we neglect the pleasure and tenderness of the relationship. Philandros (husband-lover) love is NOT a dutiful kind of love. It is a love filled with enjoyment, pleasure, and warm affection." Carolyn Mahaney, Loving My Husband, Tape 2 in Titus 2 Series.
My question for today. How do I rate my affection toward him?
Is it characterized by fond affection?
Here I sit at the computer while he is out watching "Matlock". I must go now and see how I might serve him!

Simple Joys

I read in Psalms today...How happy are those who fear the Lord-who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
How happy you will be! How rich your life!...
May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. Psalm 128
God is SO faithful!
What simple joys a new sandbox in our yard brings to us. We have added this to the 2 swings and welcome our 14 grandchildren to visit us any time. Right now Henry and Jonah and their mom and dad, Sam and Lisa, are living with us until Friday at which time they will close on their new home and move to Tyler. We are SO blessed.

When in Rome...

A Roman Feast at our daughter's House...Yesterday our grandaughter, graduated with honors from Kindergarten. Our daughter has home schooled her along with her other children and the graduation ceremony was such a blessing. She beamed and looked intently into her daddy's eyes as he spoke words of wisdom and blessing over her. He told how she was such a JOY to their family. Her mom and dad then prayed over her. What a joy for us to see our grandchildren raised in the knowledge of Jesus as their Savior. She was excited to receive her first real Bible. She hugged it and nearly wept with joy as she has waited a long time for this. In this family you must know how to read before receiving a real Bible and she learned the basics of reading this year in kindergarten. The evening was celebrated with a Roman feast which celebrated the end of a Unit on Rome by the two oldest boys. Several of us came attired in togas and stollas and other appropriate garb and enjoyed a Roman meal prepared by the host family. Two of our sons and their families also joined the clebration. We are BLESSED!
