Late March Early April Ramblings

I love the words of Deut. 31:8 for today: "Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you." There have been many times in our lives that we have had to claim that verse...I have a note in my Bible for one of our children on that date in 2001. I love making notes in my Bible and then recalling the goodness of God in regards to His Word. God is so faithful!
On March 28th- Dave celebrated his birthday in a rather non-eventful way as we were in Dallas at a Mannatech conference all day. We actually got to spend 4 days with the Smiths...well...we were at their house to sleep at night but didn't see much of them until Saturday. That morning we attended a Marriage Seminar put on by their church, "When Sinner Say I Do"- great teaching. Then we had dinner with the Smiths and they had a cake and all the kids had made cards and gave Grand Dad gifts and we celebrated a bit more. Then on Monday-the 30th-we went to dinner with Jon and Kelly and when we got to Red Lobster- Dave was surprised to have his other Sam and Lisa and David and Beth there too. That was fun.
What does a man of Dave's age and caliber do with him time now that he is retired? This spring he has been working hard on getting his garden ready and here are the efforts thus far!
He is pretty pleased and watches it grow daily. Of course, unless God....it will be for naught!
Today we went to Rockwall and had lunch with Amy. She has an orthodontist appointment there so we can both meet half way. Good news for her...the orthodontist says maybe just 2 more appointments. One of our reasons for the trip to Rockwall was to visit Bass Pro Shop and get a new trolling motor for the boat. Seems we somehow burned out the motor on the current one.
Here he is- installing the motor. He is still having problems with the battery so maybe tomorrow he will get that worked out.
Dave loves to dance! We go to a East Texsas Country dance most every Sat. night- but this past Sunday- we were asked to teach dance for a surprise birthday party for one of the Teen Mania GI's. These are the graduate interns and dancing is permissable for them. It was GREAT to have so many men in a class....usually our classes are rather short on the male race.
Dave is an awesome husband, father, grandfather. He has put his trust in Jesus and seeks to follow him in all he does. I just love having shared 45 birthdays with him.
So...that is the update from her...we are enjoying the exciting Final Four game...looking forward to what God may have in store for us this week!
